What better time to reboot a blog, than feeling bored in the middle of the Easter holiday?
The truth is, I’m not exactly bored. I want to write this todo application based on TM4SA ideology (The Cycle and such), but it’s hard, I can’t focus on it for more than 5 minutes. Guess I’m getting old, sloppy and haven’t programmed anything for a while, so I slipped out of habit. I hope it won’t last for long… If you have some tips how to fight with this thing, pass them along, will you? Or maybe it’s that Hacker’s Diet I’m in for a while now, can’t decide.
In other news - I’m totally addicted to Fallout 3 these days. It’s a little slippery topic for me, because it’s a Windows game (and I’m a Linux user). I’m playing it on Windows 7 beta. I don’t want to brag about the system - it’s stable, pretty fast. I just use it to launch Fallout anyway, so I haven’t spent too much time using it. Anyway, I’m thinking about writing some entries here about the game, mods I use, maybe some stories from the Wasteland. OTOH I don’t need to think about it, just do it - you’ll read it if you want or not. :-)
About the reboot - I haven’t written on my old blog for quite some time now. I’ve also felt kind of bored with it’s layout, dark, complicated, with small letters. Ever since I’ve found Mark Pilgrim’s blog, I wanted to do something similar on mine (I was inspired by the “minimalistic” series of posts on various blogs, suggested reading if you want to check it out: 1 2 3). So, here it is, my own version of a minimalistic WordPress design. It’s pretty empty right now, but when I start to write some more, it should present itself better. I also moved my blog from subdomain to my main domain, harnir.net, removing completely a “landing page” which was here before. I’ve felt it was prety useless, I’ll put some info from it in “About me” page on this blog. There are some RSS feeds embedded on category/main blog pages, so check your location bars for them.
And I started to write in English again, which you probably already noticed. I wanted to go back from Polish because of planned return to Crystal, at least for a while, to clean up the code, add some patches and release a new version - and blog some stuff about it. I also planned to release the todo app mentioned above. Besides, mostly technical stuff I’m planning to write about is accessible to wider audience when it’s in English instead of Polish. I’m stll writing in my primary language on Blip.pl, Polish clone of Twitter. I’ve also thought about opening a “mirror” blog with entries translated to Polish, but I’ll put it aside for now - if there will be demand though, who knows - maybe I’ll translate my posts.
Ehhh, reboot, again! Why? Why you always reboot your blogs? All of them was cool, and all are gone now…
You do realize that you can change your layout without removing content, don’t you? ;-)
Yes, I know, shame on me… I just have fluctuating personality. ;-) I’ll try and repost old content, and translate it to English, when I have some spare time.
Sometimes it’s easier to start everything from the beginning. Do you remember a guy who wanted to sold (maybe he did it, I don’t remember) on Ebay all things he had? House, car, all clothes, house items, appliances. He wanted to go out from his life and to start another, better. It was because his girlfriend had left him. Harnir’s reason was other than this for sure, but, you know, sometimes it must happen one guy leaves something important because of want to make another, better.
And, Harnir, actually I’m glad you’re writing in English. So am I. Try to check my blog.
